Olympics Time!

Tonight we will all gather around our television sets and watch as people from all over the globe compete to find out who really is the best swimmer, diver, runner, gymnast, (etc.) in the whole world! My oldest son, who is far too competitive for his own good, although just like his mother in this respect, finds this concept extremely fascinating. So, Jana and I thought it would make an excellent theme day for the kids to study what the Olympics are all about. Thankfully the weather cooperated, and we had a blast trying out our own skills!

There was Volleyball:

Running:

Swimming (of course!)

Then we took a short break for Olympic Torch ice cream snacks:

And finished off our day by making bow and arrows our of Popsicle sticks and cotton swabs:

Oh, I almost forgot to mention Javelin throwing:

The kids also read a book about the Olympics, Kaitlynn wrote down some interesting facts to share with the kids, they made paper chains in the Olympic ring colors, and had a pool noodle sword fight. Sadly, I had to miss out on all this fun because I had some phone calls and stuff I needed to take care of. As a result, there are no pictures, but I can guarantee you the kids had a great time! (I could hear the laughing and giggling from upstairs where I was taking care of these other, far less important, things.)

AH! Okay, it's almost 8:00 so I better wrap this up and go have a date night with my hubby watching the opening ceremony! Enjoy cheering for your favorite competitors!
